We have hundreds of restaurants all across Australia - and they're only there because of the support of their local communities. Awwwww. So it's only fair that we do everything we possibly can to give back where we can. In 2018, we launched the KFC Youth Foundation, a charity which helps build confidence in young Aussies. It's a cause that's very close to our hearts because the majority of our workforce in Australia is under the age of 25. For most of them, KFC will be their first job, their second family and hopefully a place where they can just be themselves outside of school and home. We want KFC to be a place where you can do you. It's kind of like being a parent - except with 35,000 kids! Nothing makes us prouder than seeing them mature into thriving young adults, and we'll do anything we can to help them get there.
We're also huge fans of Whitelion and the Reach Foundation, and all the incredible work they do to support youths. We actually employ 40% of the young people in the Whitelion Employer Program, making us the largest employer in the program bar none.
On the food side, we regularly participate in Foodbank's Food Rescue Program to donate food to those in need. To date, we've donated over 161,000(!) meal equivalents. That's a lotta chicken. We're also keen supporters of OzHarvest, and that starts right at the top. Our CEO, Nikki Lawson, regularly takes part in the annual CEO Cookoff fundraiser (and we gotta say, she makes a mean lasagna!), and we're rolling out a food recovery program across our network that has already donated over 20,000 meals.
