Other programmes we are proud of include:

Training and development programs offered to KFC employees

  • The Global Emerging Leaders Programme, which provides targeted leadership development for our permanent team members. This includes mentoring and coaching from senior leaders.
  • Advanced Leadership Programs for designated individuals. There are several specific programs for employees with further potential. These programs are designed for skills development and personal leadership. Our Leadership Team participate in these programs and provide individual insights, stories and coaching to employees. 
  • Graduate Leadership Program – providing a structured career path for tertiary qualified Restaurant General Managers prior to assuming a key field management position.
  • Master of Retail Management at the University of Wollongong’s Sydney Business School – a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program developed specifically for Yum!
  • Education Assistance Program – providing up to $1,200 for continued tertiary study for approved courses.   To date approximately 550 employees have received support through our Education Assistance and Masters of Retail Management Programs. 

Fair and Flexible Workplace

We are proud of our fair and flexible workplace with ample growth opportunities for parents. We provide paid parental leave benefits above the statutory requirements and ‘transition back to work’ arrangements for female employees returning from maternity leave. Consequently approximately 80% of women who take maternity leave return to work and more than 50% of all permanent management and administration positions are held by females. We also have a range of flexible benefits including carer’s leave and employees have the opportunity to purchase additional leave to accommodate their personal commitments and promote a healthy work life balance.

Yammer

We launched a KFC social media channel on Yammer for our staff to enable us to connect to our people more closely. Not only has Yammer helped the business to connect, chat and celebrate each other’s achievements, it has added a level of transparency and openness to the way we communicate.

#myplan

KFC Australia launched #myplan, a QSR industry first goal setting program for all our 34,000 employees. The #myplan program has been designed to assist our team members in setting up their own personal and career focused short and long-term goals. The program has been compiled in partnership with the Career Industry Council of Australia as well as the New South Wales Government’s Department of Industry. #myplan is a function for all team members to outline what their goals are, and to help them understand what steps they can put in place to achieve them.

Wellness Program

In August 2012, KFC Australia launched a Wellness Initiative to help employees learn more about healthy living. Through a series of online training models created the Initiative helps employees improve their work/life balance, providing wellness assessments as well as tips on healthy eating. The programmed has been expanded to offer mental wellness tips as well. As part of the Initiative, employees are also offered free access to healthcare providers who screen for cardiovascular issues and diabetes.

Registered Training Organisation

We’ve been recognized as a Registered Training Provider by the Australian government for more than a decade. The program provides employees with valuable life skills training while at the same time providing training to do their jobs in our restaurants. On completion of the course, employees receive a Nationally Recognized Qualification.

Leadership Training Programs

KFC is also proud to offer our employees a range of innovative leadership development programs including:

  • The Future Leaders Program, which provides targeted leadership development for our permanent team members.  This includes mentoring and coaching from senior leaders.
  • Training and Development Programs for all employees, which provide leadership development, coaching skills, functional skills and presentation skills.   These programs are scheduled annually and employees are invited to attend or nominate others.
  • Advanced Leadership Programs for designated individuals. There are several specific programs for employees with further potential.   These programs are designed for skills development and personal leadership.  Our Leadership Team participate in these programs and provide individual insights, stories and coaching to employees.
