  • More people die of hunger every year than from AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined
  • Nearly one billion people suffer from hunger and malnutrition; most are women and children
  • Malnutrition prevents children from reaching their full developmental and cognitive potential
  • A third of all deaths in children under age five in developing countries are linked to undernutrition.
  • Hunger (underweight) is number 1 on the list of the world’s top 10 health risks
  • 1 in 7 people (adults and children) go to bed hungry every night

World Hunger Relief: Your contribution matters.

KFC’s parent company, YUM is committed to assisting the millions of people starving around the world.

From 1 September – 30 September 2012, YUM continues their UN World Food Programme partnership with the launch of their fifth consecutive World Hunger Relief (WHR) campaign.

In 2011 funds raised by KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants contributed to the World Food Programme’s school meals in Bhutan, Indonesia and Laos.

Thanks to your generosity, Australia has raised over $3 million since 2007. Internationally, YUM has raised over US$115 million and provided more than 460 million meals to those in urgent need of food assistance.

What’s our WHR target this year? Here in Australia, we’re aiming to raise $1 million for the World Food Programme.

To achieve our goal, we need your help!

Show your support by making a donation at your local KFC store or purchase a torch keyring, wristband or a pen to help fight world hunger.

Thanks in advance for helping us fight the battle against hunger.
