1964: Colonel Sanders sells KFC to a group of investors
1968: KFC opens its first store in Australia at Guildford in NSW
1969: KFC is listed in the New York Stock Exchange. Sanders buys first 100 shares
1971: Heublein Inc. acquires KFC. KFC opens its first restaurant on 18th August, at Royal Oak in New Zealand
1980: Colonel Sanders dies aged 90
1982: KFC becomes a subsidiary of RJ Reynolds Industries Inc., after Reynolds acquires Heublein
1985: KFC opens the US $23 million Colonel Harland Sanders Technical Centre in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A.
1986: PepsiCo buys KFC from Reynolds for US $840 million
1987: KFC opens a store in Beijing in the People's Republic of China
1989: PepsiCo buy 50% of KFC NZ from Goodman Fielder Wattie to take ownership of 100%
1991: KFC NZ turnover exceeds $100 million for the first time
1992: KFC announces decision to adopt new KFC name, packaging, product ranges and uniforms
1999: KFC Australia launches the "Nobody Does Chicken Like KFC!" marketing campaign
2005: KFC Australia launches the "Can't Beat that Taste!" marketing campaign
2006: KFC International launches global re-image as it unveils an astronomical 87,500 square foot new Colonel Sanders logo that is visible from space
